Position Summary
We are seeking an Accountant to support a growing manufacturing organization in the Denver Tech Center. This role offers a blend of traditional accounting responsibilities and operational finance exposure, making it ideal for someone who enjoys working closely with inventory, manufacturing operations, and cost accounting.
The Accountant will play a key role in maintaining accurate financial records, supporting month-end close, managing fixed assets, and ensuring inventory and production-related transactions are properly recorded and analyzed. This position works cross-functionally with operations, purchasing, and leadership teams to help drive financial accuracy and informed business decisions.
Key Responsibilities
General Accounting
- Prepare and post journal entries for monthly accounting activities.
- Reconcile general ledger accounts and investigate discrepancies.
- Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes.
- Maintain accurate financial records in accordance with company policies.
- Assist with financial reporting and ad hoc analysis requests.
Inventory Accounting
- Monitor inventory transactions, adjustments, transfers, and reconciliations.
- Investigate inventory variances and partner with operations to resolve discrepancies.
- Assist with cycle count and physical inventory processes.
- Reconcile inventory subledgers to the general ledger.
- Analyze inventory trends and identify opportunities to improve controls.
Cost Accounting
- Support product costing and manufacturing cost analysis.
- Review material, labor, and overhead allocations.
- Assist with standard cost maintenance and variance reporting.
- Analyze production costs and identify drivers impacting profitability.
- Support budgeting and forecasting related to manufacturing operations.
Fixed Assets
- Maintain fixed asset records and depreciation schedules.
- Track capital expenditures and asset additions.
- Reconcile fixed asset accounts and ensure proper capitalization.
- Assist with asset audits and physical asset verification activities.
Process Improvement
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting procedures and internal controls.
- Collaborate with operations, supply chain, and finance teams to improve reporting accuracy.
- Participate in ERP and accounting system enhancement initiatives.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- 2+ years of accounting experience.
- Manufacturing, inventory, or cost accounting experience strongly preferred.
- Understanding of inventory accounting and fixed asset accounting principles.
- Experience with ERP systems and Microsoft Excel.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
